What did the army do when there was not a battle to be fought? They did chores - essential tasks to stay fed, healthy, warm and hydrated. Often called "fatigue duty" basic chores were handled by patrols, but some special skilled tasks were performed by tradesmen as part of a "trade fatigue." Soldiers and camp followers participated in many essential tasks and here is your chance to try your own hand! Saw some firewood, do a bit of laundry the 18th century way, mend a uniform and MORE! Assist our demonstrators and take part in a "foraging party" to procure necessary supplies not provided by the Quartermaster. Visit with the blacksmith and wood carver. Make it a full day and bring a picnic to enjoy in the shaded, riverfront picnic area.
