ABOUT ABOUT

Get ready to face the holiday season in 18th century style! Join us for a hands-on, mugs-open, class on the colonial cocktails that ensured our nation did not choose the turkey as its national symbol. Enjoy learning about tavern culture and holiday traditions in Colonial Philadelphia and then get behind the bar to create authentic cocktails and sample a traditional 18th century punch. Learn the ins and outs of giving a proper toast and play a few tavern games.  Participants receive a booklet with recipes and toasting information and have the opportunity to buy signed copies of The Fort Mifflin Bartenders’ Guide Book: A View into Colonial Era Spirits and Cocktails.

Come learn to what it really means to come to loggerheads.  Perhaps you thought you knew what a punchline was…think again.  And of course we will discuss the real reasons Brittain opposed American Independence and wanted to arrest John Hancock (SUGAR and rum!)

Your ticket also provides full access to all the Black Powder Friday activities taking place that day including black powder demonstrations with our muskets and cannons plus a program about the manufacture of black powder.  You can even fire the cannon for an additional $20 donation.  Skip the mall and have a BLAST at Fort Mifflin!
